YY Market Alley Closure
Council District 13 and members of the community actively worked with LA City's Nuisance Alley Coversion Program to close the alley behind the YY Market. On May 13, 2004, the alley was officially closed, ending years of illegal activity that had been taking place in the alley.

Tree Planting at Mayberry Elementary
On April 19, 2004, Mayberry Elementary School teamed up with TreePeople and Council District 13 to get 40 new trees planted on the parkway in front of the school.

UNTAG Debut
On May 15, 2004, Councilmember Garcetti held the inaugural Uniting Neighborhoods To Abolish Graffiti (UNTAG) graffiti paint out in the Temple-Beverly area. UNTAG is Councilmember Garcetti's initiative to reduce graffiti throughout the district by 50% over the next two years. Interested in joining UNTAG? Take Your Bike to Work Day
On May 20, 2004, Councilmember Garcetti participated in the Los Angeles County's Annual "Take Your Bike to Work Day." Instead of using his car, for a day the Councilmember commuted by using his bike and public transportation.

Armenian Genocide Commeration
Councilmember Garcetti participates in a remembrance of those individuals who lost their lives during the Armenian Genocide on April 23, 2004.

Historic Filipinotown Cleanup
Community Members devoted their Saturdays on April 17, 2004 to help make their neighborhood in Historic Filipinotown a cleaner and better place to live

Metro-Hollywood Apartment Opening
On April 19, 2004, Councilmember Garcetti joined Councilmember Tom LaBonge in celebrating the opening of the Metro-Hollywood Apartment Complex. This development is the first of its kind and will provide affordable housing, commercial space, and daycare services to its tenants.
