| Councilmember Alarcon joined with residents of Oakridge Park for cleanup efforts. In late 2008 the Sayre Fire swept through the park, destroying over 500 residence and buildings. |

| On November 19, 2007 Councilmember Richard Alarcn was joined the Los Angeles Police Department, Department of Transportation and 5th Grade Student Councilmembers from Telfair Elementary students to activate a new Smart Crosswalk adjacent to Richie Valens Park. This Smart Crosswalk is part of the Safe Routes to School program.
As part of the activation ceremony, Councilmember Alarcn announced an aggressive plan to add speed humps and fix sidewalks around all the viable school and park locations in the Seventh District. |
