Opening of Light Signal at 53rd & Hooper Councilwoman Jan Perry, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), students from nearby Hooper Elementary, and parishioners from St. Odelias Catholic Church celebrated the activation of a new signal light today in South Los Angeles. The signal, located at the corner of 53rd Street and Hooper Avenue, will improve pedestrian safety in the area, slowing down traffic on this busy intersection and providing safer passage for area school children and parish members of St. Odelias church. National Night Out Event Councilwoman Jan Perry joined community members from throughout the Ninth District, local law enforcement, businesses, and local stakeholders to celebrate the 24th Annual National Night Out on August 7, 2007.
